The 2014 is classic Tondonia: red cherry, darker fruit, leather and tobacco, herbs, orange zest, spice and earthy notes, all balanced by thefresh acidity and fine tannins that make Tondonia age so beautifully. Despite its long ageing—around eight years in old vats and seasoned American oak—it remains remarkably energetic and elegant rather than heavy.
The latest major scores are 96/100 Tim Atkin and 95/100 Wine Advocate (Luis Gutiérrez); Justerini & Brooks also lists 95/100 Vinous. Wine Advocate gives it a drinking window of roughly 2026–2045, while Atkin suggests 2027–2040.
