One of our favourite red wines of 2025. From Luis Canas winery, this is their family reserve wine. 85% Tempranillo, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon (the highest percentage of non-Spanish grapes you can blend while still labelling the wine as Rioja, and not allowed to be named on the label.)
A refined and elegant wine that also packs a serious punch. Weighty and rich, but perfectly balanced acidity and soft tannins. On the palate, dark cherries, hints of cassis. This Reserva has been aged for 20 months in new oak and a further 3 years in cellar. Great depth of secondary and tertiary notes of vanilla, cinnamon are perfectly in sync with the fresh fruitiness.
