Our Limited Edition #38 is a red ale, with a healthy dose of American hops. Rooted in centuries of Irish brewing tradition, Red Ale takes its colour from kilned malts and roasted barley. Although traditionally a malt forward style, we have chosen a more modern version, with the addition of American hops. it’s a beer built on depth, warmth, and drinkability. It pours a pleasing deep ruby colour, with an aroma of tropical and citrus fruits from El Dorado and Citra in the dry hop. Beneath the hops sit caramel malt aromas; the flavour, too, is an interplay of caramel and toast flavours from the several different dark malts in the recipe, backed up by a robust bitterness and finishing with fruity flavours such as pineapple, grapefruit and watermelon. At 7% ABV, a slight alcohol warmth lingers on the palate.
