It’s a well-balanced beer with lovely notes of bitter coffee and dark chocolate as well as a subtle nuttiness thanks to the Emmer wheat, for which the beer is named. This ancient grain is grown atCornstown House Farm in Ashbourne and was very important to Ireland’s first Neolithic farmers, and now brewers on Dublin’s Northside! Emmer wheat is estimated to be almost 10,000 years old and having it part of the grain bill gives this stout a unique link to the past.
